Mon 25 July - Sat 30 July 7.30 pm | Billy Liar
This popular 1960s comedy by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall tells the story of Billy Fisher, a young man living with his parents in the fictional town of Stradhoughton in Yorkshire. Billy is idle, dishonest and an uncurable liar. Bored by his dull job as an undertaker's clerk and his dreary domestic background, he tries to escape by weaving a world of his own out of fantasies and dreams. He has three girlfriends and somehow manages to be engaged to all three of them. His family are fully aware that he is a good for nothing, but are unable to understand or control him.
Billy's imaginary life becomes so complicated, and he concocts so many different fantasy situations that truth and fiction become hopelessly intermingled. This inevitably lands him in trouble with his family, girlfriends and employers. But when he is given the chance to start a new life, he turns it down, preferring his dreams to reality.
Directed by Jessica Colson for Amateur Players of Sherborne.

Sat 24 September 5pm-8pm | The 5K Twilight Shift
We are delighted to announce that our brand new event - 'The 5K Twilight Shift' will take place on Saturday 24th September 2022. Will you take on the challenge and raise vital funds for our life-saving charity?
Taking place at Henstridge Airfield, this event will involve people running, jogging, or walking 5K around the airfield, which is the home of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance team.
In what is expected to be a truly memorable afternoon, the event will begin at 5.00pm; this is significant as it is the time when the crew of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance begin the twilight shift and carry on their life-saving work into the night.
Supporters can enter the 5K Twilight Shift as an individual, as a family, or a group. You can take part as a serious runner or simply use it to have fun and exercise on what will hopefully be a beautiful late afternoon in September.
Participants could even wear fancy dress, or for the more experienced 5K challengers, carry extra weight, just like the air ambulance team need to do, when they are attending an incident. Businesses or groups might like to use the 5K Twilight Shift as an opportunity for team building, or in house competitions with friends and colleagues; it really is an event that is open to all.
As this is a charity-run fundraising event, we are encouraging all participants to raise a minimum of £25 through sponsorship.
