About us

Church House Investment Management (Church House) is a private investment management company. We offer investment management services for private individuals and family groups, including their ISAs, pension funds,  trusts and charitable foundations.

We remain accountable to our clients and their advisers for our actions and are of a size where every clients matters to us. People and advisers meeting us for the first time appear to find our openness and transparency rather refreshing.

Our focus is on risk management and the provision of returns to match our clients’ needs and (reasonable!) expectations. This requires a close relationship and dictates a genuine personal service. We aim to build long-term relationships with our clients and their families; to achieve this we recognise the need to deliver returns to an expected level of risk.

We are an independent company. The directors and senior staff hold a controlling interest in the company’s equity share capital. The Cayzer Trust Company also own around one fifth of the equity. Our directors and senior staff have considerable experience in financial markets and the management of investment portfolios and investment funds.

Private Clients

Church House Investments look after the investment portfolios of private individuals and their families.

In addition to personal portfolios, the management of investment assets include pension schemes, (including SIPPs and SSASs), trusts (including charitable), ISAs (including Junior) and other vehicles established for particular purposes, such as investment companies or funds.

We do not define relationships with our clients by the size of their investable assets, so we do not set an arbitrary minimum threshold. Rather, our prime concern is to establish whether there is the essential 'fit' between a prospective client and our services. The benefits of Church House Investor services include:

  • Bespoke portfolio management
  • Transparent cost structure
  • Access to your own client manager
  • Efficient and friendly administration

Your Investment Portfolio

Ensuring you are reassured and confident about your investment portfolio is an essential part of our service. This means you can expect clear and timely communications depending on your requirements.  You will receive regular hard copy portfolio valuations that are provided in a clear and easy to understand format.

We understand that your financial circumstances may change and that your investment objectives can evolve. We always take the time to listen to your requirements and regularly review your portfolio to ensure it is still meeting your individual needs.

Most importantly, you will have direct access to your client manager – either over the telephone or face-to-face. Although an increasingly rare feature in the investment management industry, we truly believe this direct relationship ensures your portfolio will always reflect your individual circumstances.

Discretionary Portfolio Management

Our core service is the management of clients’ investment portfolios on a discretionary basis. Whether this is for private individuals, family groups, or their respective trusts, SIPPs or ISAs, our aim is to be as straightforward and clear as possible.

Our focus is on risk management and the provision of returns to meet our client’s needs and (reasonable!) expectations. This requires a close relationship and dictates a genuine personal service. We aim to build long-term relationships with our clients and their families; to achieve this we recognise the need to deliver returns to an expected level of risk.

Our Investment Funds

We manage a selection of investment funds, each of which follow specific investment briefs to generate the core building blocks for our clients’ portfolios. Each fund represents a different risk category and investment objective through exposure to different asset types and market sectors.  We have full transparency over the underlying assets and thereby are assured on the quality and design of these building blocks to generate the risk/returns sought by our clients.

Investment Management Agreement

Church House works for clients to an Investment Management Agreement which is drawn up at the outset and sets out the approach to be followed. All transactions for clients’ portfolios are carried out on a discretionary basis under the terms of this agreement. Utilising Church House’s investment management process (see Investment Policy), client portfolios tend to see low turnover once they have been established as changes are principally undertaken at the level of the underlying Church House funds.

We report to clients individually at least every six months and like to have face-to-face meetings at least once each year. Every three months, we send all clients a report on our current views and what we are doing in the investment markets. Clients are free to contact us at any time; each client has a known point of contact at Church House with an alternative.
