Festive Shopping Day
2009 Christmas Thank you.pdf
Sunday 6th December 2009
This year we are holding a Festive Day on Sunday 6th December, which will support the charity Clic Sargent which cares for children and young people with cancer.
We have decided to concentrate the festivities into one day, and have made an application to close Cheap Street for the event, which should add to everyone's enjoyment.
We have a number of steam engines coming into the town on the day, which will offer rides. We hope to have an old steam organ on the parade, next to the Conduit, the Two Castles Youth Band will perform and we are delighted to announce that we have a number of circus acts booked to entertain us!
There will be an official lighting up event at 4.15 on The Conduit with Olympic Gold Medallist Andrew Simpson MBE switching on the lights. Sherborne Chamber Choir will entertain us and mince pies will be on offer.

Christmas Trees
We are in the process of organising illuminated Christmas trees for the town. We hope to have over 100 this year, the cost of has been kept down once again by the generous support of Sherborne Town Council.
The trees are much admired every year and really add to the ambience of the town. We are ordering from Superplants again this year, who are expert at installing any additional brackets required, and fitting the required standard of decorative lights.
In addition to the tree, donated to the town by Sherborne Castle Estates on Greenhill, which we decorate, we have purchased, with the generous help of Sherborne Town Council, some new lights for the Rotary tree by the Conduit.
