LEONARDO/ERASMUS in Sherborne

LEONARDO/ERASMUS PROGRAMME IN SHERBORNE

For more information about our EU Lifelong Learning Programme in Sherborne and Yeovil, click on Project Details.

We have been hosting LEONARDO and ERASMUS students in Sherborne since October 2004.  Students usually spend 3 months on work experience with local employers but have also helped SAP itself as well as a number of voluntary organisations in the town.

Our first student in October 2004 was from the Institute of Public Administration in Kielce, Poland.  We continue to welcome students from them but have also hosted students from the University of West Bohemia in Plzen, Czech Republic; HELHO in Mouscron, Belgium: L'Escale in Niort, France; eCode in Pezinok, Slovakia; the Kaethe-Kollwitz-Schule in Wetzlar, Germany and the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Iveta Pavlickova (26 - see 1st photo) from Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic arrived on 8th January and is staying until 25th March.  She has a law degree and is working at the CAB and Dyne Drewett.

Frederique D'Haeye (29 - 2nd photo) from Mouscron arrived on 1st February 2010 for 3 months and is working at Casterbridge Tours.

Kamila Novosadova (23 - 3rd photo, with Tanya Prangnell her supervisor) from Klatovy in the Czech Republic arrived on 6th February and is working at The Present Finder for 3 months.

Celine Bertrand (24) from St Jacques de Thouars and Ludovic Waszak from Orbe (both in the Poitou Cahrentres Region of France) will be arriving on 5th April to start a 3 month placement at the Chantry Cafe, South Cadbury.

Nathalie Kate Drinkwater (21) and Jean-Noel Chambord from CART, a training college in Poitiers, will be arriving on 20th April to spend 3 weeks at Lufton College just outside Yeovil.  This will, we hope, be the start of an exchange programme between the 2 colleges.

Luca Csikos (24) from Hungary hopes to arrive in April to start a 3 month social and youth work placement at Yeovil Trinity Foyer.

Aurelie Ryser (22) and Solene Hardy (also 22) will be coming to Sherborne from Granville in France, one of Sherborne's Douzelage partner towns, in June and July respectively.  Aurelie will be helping with Sherborne in Bloom and Solene will be using her expertise in food production.

Monika Camborova (25), another law student from the Czech Republic, is due to arrive in July for a 3 month placement at the CAB.

We are expecting 2 students from Logrono in the Rioja Region of Spain to arrive in July for 3 month placements at Yeovil Trinity Foyer and in hotel and catering in Sherborne.

Students have the opportunity to attend a weekly English Class and prepare for the Cambridge Examination.

Contact us to find out more about providing a work experience and/or accommodation (which students pay for themselves, using EU funding) for a student or students.

For a very lively description in French of what it is like to be a LEONARDO student in Sherborne, written by Eloise Pouzet (19) from near Poitiers who was with us for 2 months until 29th May, see her report.
