SHERBORNE SKATEPARK in Blackberry Lane is popular with young people, especially those who attend the Gryphon School.  It is owned and managed by Sherborne Town Council.  However, it has deteriorated over the years since it was built and now needs a complete rebuild if it is to continue to meet the needs of this and succeeding generations.

Sherborne Skatepark Group (SSP) was formed by regular users as well as local parents and other residents and now has its own constitution, an active Committee and hopes to establish itself as a Registered Charity as part of its plan to help the Town Council to raise the necessary funds. The first photo after the poster shows them wearing their official SSP T shirts.

SAP will be assisting them in association with the Town Council, St Paul's Church, WDDC and a range of other organisations.

On Saturday 18th September 2010 a Public Consultation on the future of the Skatepark involving users of all ages, local residents, Emma Scott from WDDC and Kris Hallett from Dorset Community Action (DCA) took place at the Gryphon Conference Centre.

SSP are delighted to have been awarded a grant of £50,000 by Viridor PLC so, having added this to other grants, are well on their way to achieving their £150,000 target. See their Facebook page for the latest information on their activities.
