Events

To coincide with the Festival of Archaeology 2017, the Friends of Holnest Church will be mounting a display of 17th century pottery discovered recently in the village. The finds, influenced by South Somerset wares but with a distinctive local style and fabric, fills in gaps in our knowledge about the industry in the area.

Visitors will be able to view intriguing fragments of chafing dishes, cisterns and other cooking vessels decorated in a free and joyous manner, as well as learn more about the history of this remote and beautiful church which is not often open to the public.

Tours of the church at 10.30am and 2.30pm on 29th and 30th July. Free but donations welcome and booking essential (limited to 10 spaces).
