Chicago (High School Edition)

This full-length musical has been adapted to become content-appropriate for youth performers, whilst still containing all the favourite musical numbers including All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango, When You're Good to Mama and Razzle Dazzle..
Broadway’s longest-running American musical, Chicago is a dazzling and satirical look at fame, justice, and the media machine. Set in 1920s Chicago and based on real-life murders and trials.
Chicago follows Roxie Hart, a wannabe vaudevillian star who murders her lover and is arrested, despite her attempts to convince her pushover husband, Amos, to lie for her. In the Cook County Jail, Roxie meets her hero, the famed double-murderess and nightclub performer Velma Kelly. When both acquire the same lawyer, the greedy and lustful superstar, Billy Flynn, tensions come to a head as they vie for the spotlight-- though instead of onstage, they’re performing for the flashbulb of the newspaper reporters.
With catchy music and timeless lyrics by John Kander

Beyond Extinction - Perspectives from Deep Time

Join Wolfgang Grulke for a fascinating evening as he looks beyond the media focus and takes a fresh look at climate change, extinction, evolution and the surprising continuity of life.

The ocean is the womb of all life on earth. It is beautiful and bizarre, violent and mysterious. Its 500-million-year history is preserved in stone. Without these fossils we would have no idea of the ancient history of life. This is a personal journey exploring the origins of life and its dynamic present. Remember, we always have choice.

Tickets cost £10 per person. The event ticket entitles you to a £20 discount on signed copies of Wolfgang Grulke’s books (RRP £48) plus a complimentary wall-size poster on ‘The Continuity of Life’.

We're delighted to host an evening with renowned artist, illustrator and author, Catherine Hyde. Catherine will be joining us to read from and discuss her long-awaited new book, The Hare and the Moon: a calendar of paintings. As much a book for adults as children, this work is a lyrical tribute to the natural world – an exquisite, full colour country almanac that follows the phases of the moon and a hare's journey throughout the twelve months of the year.

Drinks served from 6.30pm, event begins at 7pm and finishes around 8pm.

Light Up a Life 2019 – Yeovil

The St. Margaret’s Hospice Light up a Life celebration service offers a way to commemorate loved ones at this time of year, and we warmly invite you to join us at St John’s Church, Church Street, Yeovil BA20 1HE.

These events help families and friends to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones. The events are open to anyone, not just people whose loved one was cared for by a hospice. Each gentle, uplifting service provides an opportunity to come together, to pay tribute to cherished family members or friends, and to light a candle in their memory. Usually, the most important part of these events is the opportunity to dedicate a message in memory of a loved one by lighting a candle, hanging a message on a tree, recording the name of someone special in a book of remembrance, or reading it aloud.

Do join us, we would love to see you there to light a candle and share your memories.
