Mela Guitar Quartet

Bringing the colours and textures of four classical guitars to life with a wonderfully inventive, eclectic mix of repertoire, Mela explore the art of a classical quartet to the highest level. Individually Mela's members have a wealth of concert experience, from performances on BBC Radio 3 and 4, to concerto performances in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and the Purcell Rooms. Formed after meeting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Royal Academy of Music, expect precision and intensity from this acclaimed quartet. Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt

Come and join us on Good Friday, 19th April 2019 from 11am ’til 4pm for a fun Easter Egg Hunt in fancy dress!

Entry includes egg hunt &andEaster egg. As well as the traditional quest for Easter eggs, your child can play on our climbing frames, swings, trampolines and Wendy houses in our orchard display and play area.

Children should come dressed in fancy dress. This year there’s no theme so let your imagination run wild! There will be a prize for the best-dressed child.

Doodles Cafe will join us with their pop up cafe where they will be serving teas, coffees, delicious treats and food.

There are egg hunts planned every hour at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Please specify which hunt your child will take part in when booking your tickets. Please arrive 15 minutes before the hunt begins.

All tickets to be collected at the door on arrival. You can book your tickets in advance onlineor by popping into the shop in Sherborne. Advance tickets are £7.50 per child (free adult entry). We cannot guarantee space if you arrive at the Toy Barn without a ticket. You can also order your Easter Egg Hunt tickets by calling us.

Sherborne Castle Country Fair

Sherborne Castle Country Fair is a one-day rural event held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle. 

This family day-out is held to raise funds for local children’s charities and youth organisations.  It is a traditional country fair with displays and attractions, trade and craft stands and a rare and native breed animal show.  The 2019 date is Bank Holiday Monday 27th May.

St Margaret’s Hospice Open Gardens – Court House, Stoford

As part of the annual Glorious Open Gardens on behalf of St Margaret’s Hospice, Court House, Court Lane, Barwick & Stoford BA22 9UA will be open to the public.

The stunning 17th century Court House also has a converted barn and adjacent cottage which both are used for community ‘get-togethers’ as part of the Geranium Trust, and are also used by St. Margaret’s Hospice by kind permission of the owner.

The beautiful gardens surrounding the house lead onto a peaceful wild meadow for you to explore and relax in. The meadow is dedicated to Geoff, the owner’s late partner. A giant book sale in the open barn and raffle will also be held on the day. Refreshments will be on sale in the barn, and dogs are welcome on leads.

Entry Price £2.50 The grounds are wheelchair and pushchair accessible, and a WC is available. There is parking on site, and the adjacent roads.

The Royal Navy International Air Day

The Royal Navy International Air Day will take place at the Royal Navy Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton in Somerset on Saturday 13 July 2019. RNAS Yeovilton, the spiritual home of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, will open their gates up to 40,000 visitors to enjoy the magnificent five hour flying display, meet our Armed Forces personnel and see their equipment up close.

  There will also be a huge array of educational ground attractions from interactive Service displays to engineering fairs and state-of-the-art defence technology exhibitions. Families will also be able to enjoy trade stalls, arena displays, helicopter pleasure flights, simulators and fairground rides.

Lancaster Insurance Classic & Supercars Show

16th Annual Charity Classic & Supercars Show. Porsche will be the 2019 marque feature, with an historic line up of cars including race, rally and road cars from 1948 to the present day. Visitors will also see over 2,000 Classic, Supercars, Veteran, Race, Rally, American, Custom, Hot Rod and Special cars, together with 40+ car clubs, all in the magnificent grounds of Sherborne Castle. With 150+ Trade, Autojumble and Craft stands plus children’s amusements, live music, large catering village and beautiful picnic areas, the show has something for all the family.

Held at Sherborne School we are fortunate to boast a state-of -the-art music school, a theatre, concert halls and user friendly rehearsal spaces all of which contribute to to the sheer pleasure of imersing oneself in making music and socialising with like minded people from all over the world. Concerts are promoted through our performance outlet Concertfest. Thirty concerts over two weeks by both professionals and students held in Sherborne School, Cheap Street Church and Sherborne Abbey. Concertfest is the concert giving outlet of the Sherborne Summer School of Music. The summer school promotes recitals and concerts in all genres of classical music from intimate solo recitals to large orchestral and choral concerts. All the concerts are available at a very modest cost to the general public. Full details about Concertfest's programmes will be published in July 2019.
