The Tourist Information Centre is situated in Digby Road, opposite the Abbey, and is open all year. The staff are pleased to welcome visitors to the town and offer a friendly advice service to enable them to make the most of their stay. Local residents are also encouraged to use the Centre’s excellent facilities.
A wide range of information is held covering all aspects of tourism within West Dorset and beyond. Details are available on local events throughout the year and a wide arrange of theatre and art centre programmes are obtainable, some of which can be booked through the Centre. Other facilities include a comprehensive accommodation booking service, discounted tickets for many local events and attractions, and access to the Holiday Information Service, which provides tourist information on areas in Britain.
A good range of maps, books and souvenirs are available for sale, and there is always a good supply of greetings cards and paintings by local artists. Guided walks of the town take place during the summer months, and charity Christmas cards are sold at the end of year.
The centre is funded by West Dorset District Council and is open Monday to Saturday. Closed during Christmas and New Year, but open for other Bank Holidays.
