Welcome to The Alders Bed and Breakfast
The house is tastefully furnished with a wood burning fire in the comfortable lounge's inglenook fireplace. The fully ensuite double and twin bedrooms are attractively appointed, equipped to high standard with colour televisions and decorated with water colour paintings of local scenes and France.
The Alders is a non smoking establishment throughout.
A good traditional English breakfast, with home made marmalade and jam, is served in the old pine panelled breakfast room, where there is a display of hand made pottery.
Good food at lunchtimes and evenings can be had at "The Mitre Inn", a traditional village pub with old stone slab floors, a short walk away.
If you are after a retreat from the noise of modern life, here only the dawn chorus of the numerous species of birds and calling of badgers, deer and foxes will disturb the night.
Sandford Orcas
This quiet, pretty, unspoilt village has its own Tudor Manor House (open to the public at certain times) and thirteenth century church, adjacent to The Alders.
Sherborne golf club is nearby.
Sherborne is conveniently situated three miles from the village. It is one of the most attractive towns in England, famous for its abbey, church and two castles, one built by Sir Walter Raleigh. There are plenty of shops in which to browse, in addition to an arts centre and small museum.
