The principal aim at Leweston is to inspire the mind and instill in it a lifelong love of learning. From the smallest pupils at Leweston Prep. through to the independent learners in the Sixth Form a Leweston education is an exciting experience: an outward one which extends far beyond the classroom.   Small classes, personal tutoring, a flexible curriculum and high expectations enable each pupil to discover their talents, nurture them and go on to achieve exceptional academic results.  The results at Leweston Senior School pay testimony to the effectiveness of single sex education which underpins the ethos of the school.

Life at Leweston is not all about work, the school has thriving art, music, drama and sporting departments which develop the talents and skills of each individual girl challenging them to widen their horizons and aim for excellence.

Boarding at Leweston

Weekends and evenings for boarders are full, busy and purposeful. Living and working together nurtures lasting friendships, whilst encouraging girls to develop an independence and confidence that will stay with them for life. All this takes place under the supervision and warm support of the boarding staff.

Pastoral support

Leweston’s commitment to traditional values, coupled with our small but dynamic size, makes us uniquely capable at seeing to the emotional wellbeing of our pupils, as well as their physical and academic ones.  Each pupil has a tutor to help and guide them through their academic and pastoral development during their school life.  They go on to leave Leweston as well-balanced individuals who can
take their place in the world with confidence

Sixth form

The Sixth Form years should be full of excitement, challenges and fun, but also a time of growth in terms of preparation for life.  Leweston is celebrating its best A Level results ever, 76% of the A Levels were passed at grade A or B (62% in 2006) with 48% being A grades.  Over 50% of the girls will be going on to the Russell Group Universities (the most selective) to study in areas that include Medicine, Veterinary Science, Music, Drama, Accountancy, English, Modern Languages, International Relations and P.P.E.  Leweston girls are focused on life beyond school and they are well prepared for it.
