From the smallest pupils at Leweston's Nursery through to the independent learners in the Sixth Form a Leweston education is an exciting experience: an outward one which extends far beyond the classroom. Small classes, personal tutoring, a flexible curriculum and high expectations enable each pupil to discover their talents, nurture them and go on to achieve exceptional academic results. The results at Leweston Senior School pay testimony to the brilliant teaching that Leweston pupils experience.
Life at Leweston is not all about work, the school has thriving art, music, drama and sporting departments which develop the talents and skills of each individual girl challenging them to widen their horizons and aim for excellence. The Leweston is one of only 9 Pentathlon Academies in the country and is regarded as a Centre of Excellence by Pentathlon UK.
Boarding at Leweston
Leweston offers flexi, weekly and full Boarding and the majority of pupils experience Leweston boarding in some form during their time at the school. Weekends and evenings for boarders are full, busy and purposeful. Living and working together creates lasting friendships, whilst encouraging puils to develop an independence and confidence that will stay with them for life. All this takes place under the supervision and warm support of the boarding staff.
Leweston’s commitment to its core values of community, opportunity and respect, coupled with our small but dynamic size, makes us uniquely capable at ensuring the emotional needs of our pupils, as well as their physical and academic ones. Each pupil has a tutor to help and guide them through their academic and pastoral development during their school life. They go on to leave Leweston as well-balanced individuals who can
take their place in the world with confidence.
The pupils in our Sixth Form consistently achieve some of the best results in the region and as a result go on to win places at their chosen universities. This is achieved, not in an overly competitive environment, but as part of a community where girls support each other, where your voice will be heard and where you will have the confidence to develop the study skills you will need to excel in your learning. Our size means that you will get the individual support you need from our specialist staff who will go the extra mile to make sure you achieve your goals.
Our leavers go on to study many subjects as some of the top universities – over the last few years over 95% of our leavers have won places at their first choice university. Leweston has a 100% success rate in medicine and veterinary applications over the last 6 years, far above the national independent school average.
Leweston Prep School for girls and boys aged 2 - 11, with boarding provision for girls from age 7, is situated on the same campus. From September 2017 the Prep will be an accredited Forest School. It offers excellent early years, pre-prep and prep provision. The school also provides a beautiful Nursery which accepts babies from 3 months is open for 50 weeks a year. A weekly Forest School Parent and Toddler Group runs on Thursdays and Aquatots Toddler Swimming Group on Wednesdays.
