Avalon is an elegant Edwardian townhouse at the centre of the historic monastic town of Sherborne. Although it has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and modernisation, the character and feel of the house has been preserved. Many original features, such as the open fire in the lounge, have been retained and the small gardens redesigned to create a sense of space.

The three double guest bedrooms have recently been refurbished to provide a high standard of comfort. Each one has its own bathroom:  two with power showers and one with a bath/power shower. All equipped with ‘freeview’ flat screen televisions, free ‘wi-fi’ access, alarm clock, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and luxury towels and toiletries. Ironing facilities are available on request.

Check In and Check Out

Rooms are available from 4.00pm, but should you wish to arrive earlier simply let us know. Check out is 10.00 am weekdays and 10.30 at weekends.

Breakfast

Breakfast is cooked to order, with ingredients sourced from a rich diversity of local suppliers, and served around a magnificent oak table in the spacious farmhouse-style kitchen.  It is available between 7 and 9am on Monday to Friday, and 7.30 and 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

Requests for special diets should be made at the time of booking, however we cannot always guarantee that we will be able to meet your requirements.

Restrictions

The facilities at Avalon are not suitable for children. Smoking is not permitted in the house. Regrettably we cannot accept pets. For those who are less able-bodied, please bear in mind all our bedrooms are accessed via a staircase to the first floor.

We are only a few minutes walk away from the London/Exeter railway station and while some limited private parking may be available, a public car park can be found round the corner from Avalon which is used by many Sherborne residents.
